My client, a robotic R&D business who had proven track record in developing utilities robot for clients, is looking for high calibre talents to join their R&D team.
Job Responsibilities
Define and own the overall system architecture, covering high‑level compute (Linux / ROS2), real‑time control (MCU), safety controllers, sensors, actuators, power, and communications
Develop and maintain the safety architecture, ensuring clear separation between safety‑related control functions and non‑safety / AI functions
Ensure system and safety architecture compliance with EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, ISO 12100, ISO 13849‑1/-2, and IEC 62061
Lead functional safety activities, including risk assessment and definition of PL / SIL targets (PL d / PL e or SIL 2)
Act as the primary technical interface with Notified Bodies (e.g. TÜV, SGS, UL) throughout the certification lifecycle
Prepare, review, and maintain all technical documentation for design reviews, pre‑assessment audits, and final conformity assessments
Incorporate feedback from test houses early to minimize late‑stage redesign and certification risk
Support CE marking and conformity declaration activities
Guide and review work from electrical, firmware, software, and mechanical teams on safety‑related design decisions
Identify, assess, and mitigate safety and certification risks at system level throughout the project lifecycle
Job Requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related discipline
3–6 years of experience in system architecture, embedded systems, or functional safety engineering
Hands‑on experience working directly with Notified Bodies (e.g. TÜV, SGS, UL)
Proven knowledge of ISO 12100, ISO 13849‑1/-2 and/or IEC 62061
Experience defining and implementing PL d / PL e or SIL 2 safety functions
Strong understanding of embedded systems, including MCU, RTOS, and safety controllers
Experience with safety MCUs, emergency stop and STO architectures, and fail‑safe / redundant designs
Familiarity with industrial fieldbuses such as CAN, CANopen, and EtherCAT
System‑level understanding of Linux‑based platforms and ROS
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mobile robots, AGVs, or autonomous systems
Familiarity with EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 (beyond the legacy Machinery Directive)
Experience preparing and maintaining technical files for CE marking
